The thrice-crowned African champions have climbed to the 39th spot, amassing an additional 5.68 points, which elevated them from their rank in April.

Under the leadership of Jose Peseiro, the Super Eagles now rank higher than Erling Haaland’s Norway, Ghana’s Black Stars, Cote D’Ivoire’s Elephants, and the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, as per the recent ranking.

The team’s upward shift can be attributed to their triumphant victory over Sierra Leone’s Leone Stars earlier this month.

Securing a 3-2 win in Monrovia against the Leone Stars, the Super Eagles guaranteed their spot at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

As it stands, the top African team is the Atlas Lions of Morocco, trailed by the Terangha Lions of Senegal and the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in the second and third spots, respectively. Rounding out the top five teams are the Desert Foxes of Algeria and Egypt’s Pharaohs.
