Abuja ‘One Chance’ Victim’s Death Triggers Official Probe by Minister

In response to the shocking and tragic death of 33-year-old Greatness Tolulope Olorunfemi, who fell victim to a “one chance” vehicle attack in the Federal Capital Territory, Minister Nyesome Wike has taken decisive action by forming a nine-member panel to probe the circumstances surrounding her demise.

Olorunfemi, a young professional, met her untimely demise after being attacked by armed robbers operating in the notorious “one chance” criminal scheme within Abuja. These criminals, who pose as taxi drivers, lure unsuspecting passengers and then proceed to rob and assault them.

The unfortunate incident unfolded when Olorunfemi boarded what appeared to be a regular vehicle, only to be subjected to a horrifying ordeal. She was stabbed and then thrown out of the moving vehicle along the busy Maitama-Kubwa highway, leading to her tragic demise.

Minister Nyesome Wike has responded swiftly by assembling a panel composed of reputable organizations, including the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDDAN), Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN), National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), and the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), among others. This multi-disciplinary panel will collaborate to uncover the truth behind Olorunfemi’s death.

In expressing his condolences to the grieving family and friends of the deceased, Minister Wike reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to ensuring that the investigation is carried out with the utmost transparency, integrity, and professionalism.

An official statement released by the Office of the Mandate Secretary for Health Service & Environment Secretariat (FCT), Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, and signed by Assistant Director Badiru Salisu Yakassi, outlined that the investigative panel will be officially inaugurated on Thursday at 10 a.m. The inauguration ceremony will take place at the Health and Environment Secretariat’s new office, located at the Abuja Property Development Company in Area 11, behind Aegis, FCT.

The Secretariat also expressed its appreciation for the patience and understanding exhibited by the public and assured that the findings of the panel would be made available to the public as soon as the investigation concludes.

Following the harrowing incident, Olorunfemi was rushed to Maitama District Hospital in Abuja, where medical professionals confirmed her tragic demise.

Prior to her untimely death, Greatness Tolulope Olorunfemi had been an active member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), Abuja Chapter, serving as the Assistant Secretary and Public Relations Officer. Additionally, she was an enthusiastic member of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) network.

The investigation into this heinous crime aims to provide answers to the questions surrounding Olorunfemi’s death and to ensure that justice is served for the victim and her grieving loved ones.
