Manchester United are reportedly contemplating a move for Feyenoord’s goalkeeper Justin Bijlow as a cost-effective alternative to Inter Milan’s Andre Onana, according to the Daily Mirror.

With the constraints of Financial Fair Play restrictions on United’s budget, the club doubts their ability to meet Inter’s £60 million ($76m) valuation of Onana. As a result, they are exploring other options, with Bijlow and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Kevin Trapp emerging as potential targets.

Feyenoord is likely to demand £20m ($25m) for Bijlow, a much more affordable fee for the English club. At the age of 25, Bijlow has already won eight caps for the Netherlands and made 119 appearances for the Dutch club. Trapp is available at an even lower cost, reportedly half the asking price for Bijlow.

Adding to the urgency of the situation, uncertainty looms over the future of David de Gea at United. The Spanish goalkeeper is technically a free agent after his contract expired, and despite his past contributions, the club appears reluctant to offer him a new deal due to his inconsistent performance in the past season. United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, is reportedly keen on signing a new goalkeeper this summer.

In the upcoming weeks, Manchester United will need to clarify De Gea’s future at the club and then likely move towards a decision regarding a new goalkeeper signing.
