Man United’s back in the Champions League, but the real work starts now

Manchester United are basically locked in for Champions League football next season. Barring some absolute disaster, they'll be playing in Europe's biggest club competition again. For fans, that's a massive relief after missing out the last couple of seasons. But behind the scenes at Old Trafford, the big bosses know the hard part is just beginning.

Getting back to the Champions League is one thing. Actually competing when you get there is something else entirely. United have been inconsistent all season. They've had brilliant moments where they look like title contenders, then games where they play like they're fighting relegation. That kind of form won't cut it when you're facing Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, or PSG.

The squad has issues everyone can see. The midfield needs fixing. The defence has holes. And there are questions about whether some of the big-money signings are actually going to work out. These are the decisions that are coming next for United's management. They need to figure out who stays, who goes, and what they're really building here.

Erik ten Hag has steadied the ship since arriving, but there's still work to do. The team needs more consistency, better depth, and clearer direction. Some of the players brought in haven't lived up to the hype. Others have been solid but not special. And there are aging players still collecting big wages.

So yeah, Champions League is back. But for United, the real test is what happens this summer and into next season. Can they actually compete at that level again? That's the question that matters.
