Henderson has struggled to play regularly at Manchester United this season and has made his complaints about the lack of playing time very clear to the coaching staff and the board as well. The Englishman became popular when he was on loan at Sheffield United in the 2019/2020 season where he was arguably the most important player at the club and this prompted his return to Old Trafford in the following season.

Manchester United are not willing to rotate goalkeepers and David De Gea has been a mainstay figure this season, with the highest save ratio in the PL this season. Newcastle are keen on a younger option between the sticks and Henderson has recently emerged as a top target and the Magpies see him as a priority ahead of the new season.

Newcastle have started the groundwork for the deal to be put in motion and a conclusion will be reached before the thick of the summer. Dean Henderson is looking to exit United soon in order to achieve game time on a constant basis and the possibility of being Newcastle’s number 1 is very intriguing for the England international.

The Magpies are also monitoring Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard who will be a free agent in the summer after spending nearly twelve years playing senior football at Old Trafford. Newcastle were going to sign him in January but Manchester United pulled out of negotiations at the last minute, leaving Lingard with six months of little or no playing time.

Henderson is being monitored by two unnamed clubs in Germany but the player is hopeful of remaining in England amid getting back into the national setup. The structure of the contract is still not yet known and it is possible that it could be a loan deal until further notice. Henderson wants a permanent deal and Newcastle are exploring the option of a loan deal with a buy option. Talks are set to begin in earnest, with Newcastle set to meet Manchester United in a few weeks’ time.
