Jürgen Klopp had a remarkable season with Liverpool guiding them to the league title. The German tactician has been named the League Managers Association manager of the year. He pipped Wycombe’s Gareth Ainsworth and Sheffield United’s Chris Wilder to the award.

Jürgen Klopp guided Liverpool to Premier League glory for the first time in 30 years and he has now emerged the League Managers Association manager of the year. The German tactician won the award on Monday night, July 27, beating Wycombe’s manager Gareth Ainsworth and Sheffield United’s Chris Wilder to the prestigious individual accolade.

The prestigious award is named the ‘Sir Alex Ferguson trophy’ and the Manchester United legend sent a special video message to the Liverpool boss. Ferguson said:

“And, of course, the winner: Jürgen Klopp. Jürgen: fantastic. I speak about Leeds United, 16 years in the Championship.”

“Liverpool, 30 years since winning that league, incredible and thoroughly deserved. The performance level of your team was outstanding. Your personality went right through the whole club. I think it was a marvellous, marvellous performance.
