Liverpool are expected to begin negotiations with Bayern Munich over the transfer of Thiago Alcantara imminently.
Despite winning Champions League, Bayern still wants Thiago out of the squad. UCL Final on Sunday night have Thiago started and starred in. The Spanish international has one year remaining on his contract with the German treble winners, however, the links with a switch to Liverpool will not cease.
Following the late conclusion to the Bayern season, it seems the time is set to finally begin talks over the transfer. Thiago himself has reportedly told his teammates that he is leaving the club this summer, with Anfield his preferred destination, citing a desire to work under Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp as one of the main reasons.
Bayern have been determined to get as close to £30m as possible for their man whilst Liverpool hope to bring them down towards the £25m mark. Following the 29-year-olds impressive Champions League showings, this may be a battle Michael Edwards cannot win, for the first time in a while, Liverpool may be forced to pay the going rate.
Although well stocked in the centre of midfield, bringing in a player of Thiago’s quality and experience is a no-brainer, especially when he is seemingly desperate to make the move happen.
