The Kogi State Government has promised to bring to justice the perpetrators responsible for the abduction and murder of the traditional ruler of Aghara Bunu in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of the state. According to reports, Chief David Obadofin was kidnapped from his home by unknown assailants last week and subsequently killed.

The State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr Kingsley Fanwo, issued a statement in Lokoja, describing the incident as “horrendous, criminal and reprehensible”. He assured the public that the government would not rest until the kidnappers and killers were arrested and held accountable for their actions.

Fanwo expressed his sympathy for the hitherto peaceful community of Aghara Bunu, which had been attacked by “coward anti-socials” who also killed a woman and a young lady during the kidnapping. He stressed that the state government was determined to get to the bottom of the matter and ensure that the masterminds were brought to justice.

The commissioner further stated that the state government was working closely with security agencies to investigate the incident and that significant progress had been made. He disclosed that some suspects had been apprehended and were providing useful information to law enforcement agents.

Fanwo also promised that the government would continue to strengthen its anti-crime architecture to prevent any breach of the peace and respond rapidly to any such incidents. He urged the public to cooperate with security agencies in order to help unravel the mystery behind the heinous acts.

In conclusion, Fanwo reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of its citizens, and expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased. He promised that the findings of the investigations would be made public once concluded.
