Super Bowl LV Return Match

At the Super Bowl rematch, you could tell Patrick Mahomes was itching to avenge the loss he suffered on this very same field twenty months ago.

The real match up to keep an eye on is the battle between the Chiefs high powered offense and the Buccaneers top ranked defense.

Tampa Bay had given up three touchdowns, however, they allowed three touchdowns to Mahomes and the Chiefs in the first 30 minutes of the game.

Fumble on opening kick off sets tone

The Chiefs quickly got on the board. They scored a field goal after they recovered a fumble on the opening kick-off of the Bucs.

The Bucs got a field goal early, but the Chiefs offense was relentless, scoring three touchdowns in their first three drives. Clyde Edwards-Helaire scored the Chiefs second touchdown of the first quarter on a night where the KC running game went for 189 yards.

The third touchdown was an example of Mahomes making magic happen. On 2nd and Goal from the two, he dodged one defender in the backfield, got to the sideline, spun out of another tackle, drew the defense and flicked the ball to Edwards-Helaire for his second touchdown of the game.

The Majestic Mahomes Show

Brady got the Bucs into the end zone on their next drive when he found Mike Evans, who had just returned from a one-game suspension, in the end zone for a 13-yard touchdown pass.

The Chiefs had a quick possession and looked like they would tie or take the lead again, but L’Jarius Sneed sacked Brady on fourth down and he fumbled the ball.

The momentum swung back in favor of the Chiefs, scoring a touchdown in the last minute of the first half. Buccaneers would score again in the first minutes of the second, bringing the score to 28-17 but the Chiefs scored once more and then held on to take over and win 34-28.

Chiefs scored and were leading 38 to 17

And Tampa Bay would only score two more touchdowns, but by then it was too late. It was all consolation, although the Bucs may have taken one step back in order to take two steps forward. They had no offense before this game and it seems as though a game where they lost might have been exactly what their offense needed.

The Bucs beat the Falcons. If the Bucs play like they have in three of their four games and the offense plays like they did on Sunday night, then Tampa will be just fine.

Patrick Mahomes threw for 249 yards and had three touchdowns. He also threw a interception but was nearly perfect otherwise. The Chiefs are now in first place of the AFC West at 3-1, while the Bucs go to 2-2 and will have their sights on next Sunday’s matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. The Chiefs will take on the Raiders next Monday in Arrowhead.
