JAMB has cancelled the registrations of 817 candidates for the 2023 UTME due to infractions involving biometric fingerprints.
The registrar of JAMB, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, stated that the registrations were invalidated because some registration officers in 178 CBT centers added a second fingerprint to complete the registration process for candidates.
The 817 students will have the opportunity to re-register for the exam at the cost of the CBT centers. Oloyede emphasized that adding a second fingerprint could result in impersonation in the exam and access to change the candidate’s details.
He also revealed that the recent suspension of five CBT centers for selling UTME registration pins above the stipulated price has been lifted for four centers, while the excess payment will be refunded to the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.
