Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the State Commissioner for Education, made this announcement in a statement released on Monday.

Ejikeme Mmesoma, a student of Anglican Girls Secondary School in Nnewi, Anambra State, has been in the spotlight after claims surfaced that she achieved a remarkable score of 362 in this year’s UTME.

However, on Sunday, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) revealed that the student’s alleged score was not accurate, clarifying that she had actually obtained a score of 249 in the examination.

JAMB further accused Mmesoma of manipulating her result to deceive the public in order to fraudulently secure a scholarship and other forms of recognition. The board vowed to take legal action against the student and any others found to have engaged in similar result manipulation.

Expressing her disappointment, Commissioner Chuma-Udeh described the entire situation surrounding Mmesoma’s UTME score as “embarrassing.”

She emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the allegation of result falsification and announced the formation of a panel of inquiry in collaboration with law enforcement agencies to carry out the investigation.

“A panel of inquiry has been set up to work with security agents to investigate the allegation of falsification of result leveled against Mmesoma Ejikeme, who had earlier been showcased in the social media as having scored the highest,” she said.

“It is regrettable that such a controversy has arisen at a time when Governor Chukwuma Soludo is dedicatedly working towards revitalizing the education sector in the state.”

The establishment of the panel of inquiry signifies the seriousness with which the Anambra State government is treating this matter.

It aims to ensure a comprehensive and fair investigation into the allegations made against Mmesoma Ejikeme. The panel will work alongside security agents to unravel the truth behind the claim of result falsification.

The State Commissioner for Education expressed her hope that the investigation will shed light on the matter and bring forth the necessary facts to address the issue effectively.

As the investigation proceeds, all concerned parties eagerly await the findings, which will undoubtedly have significant implications for the future of UTME examinations and the educational landscape in Anambra State.
