The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a statement informing the public that the registration for this year’s direct entry (DE) will close on May 30.
The spokesperson for JAMB, Fabian Benjamin, also revealed that the sales of e-pins for the registration process will end on May 26.
The registration deadline, which began in January, has witnessed multiple extensions. However, Benjamin emphasized that there would be no further extension and urged candidates to ensure they register for the exam before the deadline.
“The 2023 DE registration, which started in February 2023, was extended to accommodate all interested candidates and was temporarily suspended to incorporate necessary safeguards to enhance the integrity of the exercise,” the statement explained.
“To avoid overcrowding, the board has implemented a scheduling system where candidates are assigned specific days for their DE registration.
“All genuine aspiring DE candidates who are yet to register to promptly come forward and complete the registration process, as the board will not entertain any further extension.
JAMB also cautioned candidates against attempting to compromise the examination process, emphasizing that severe sanctions await those caught engaging in such misconduct.
“The board has observed the unscrupulous activities of certain tutorial centers and desperate parents collaborating with some A-level tutorial centers, which undermine the educational sector and national interests,” the statement added.
“Consequently, the board is reiterating its commitment to implementing innovative measures to curb any form of infractions.
Furthermore, JAMB stated that it would not hesitate to impose appropriate sanctions on A-level awarding institutions found guilty of misconduct.
“All A-level institutions are advised to remain vigilant, as there are deliberate intentions by desperate candidates to undermine their operations,” the statement warned.
In a related development, JAMB announced last week that candidates seeking direct entry admission into any university would now be required to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
With the registration deadline fast approaching, candidates are encouraged to complete their registration promptly and abide by the guidelines set by JAMB to ensure a smooth and fair examination process.
