Former Big Brother Naija “Level Up” housemate, Deji Morafa, has issued a public apology to his former romantic partner, Chichi, in the wake of their highly turbulent reunion show.
The apology follows Chichi’s revelation about the mistreatment she endured throughout their relationship, ultimately leading to their breakup.
During the emotionally charged reunion show, Chichi displayed immense bravery as she shared the intricate details of the mistreatment she endured while involved with Deji.
She disclosed that despite Deji’s public declarations of love, his actions in private painted a completely different picture.
Chichi made serious allegations, accusing Deji of manipulating her childhood experiences to make her believe she was at fault during their arguments. This manipulation led to self-doubt and even considering therapy for the emotional toll it took on her.
Initially, Deji vehemently denied all the claims made against him by Chichi. He maintained that he had clearly expressed his disinterest in committing to a serious relationship with her.
However, in a recent update, Deji took to Twitter, to issue an official statement expressing remorse for his actions and the hurtful words he had used.
Deji’s statement read as follows: “In light of the recent episode of the reunion that was just aired, I realize some of my shortcomings and I will start by tendering my heartfelt apology to you, Chichi.
“I acknowledge that I failed to clearly express my lack of interest in pursuing a serious relationship with you during the show and I take full responsibility for it.
“After the show, we made an effort to work things out, but unfortunately, we discovered that there was no chemistry between us to sustain a romantic relationship, amongst other reasons.
“Amid the misunderstandings, I genuinely cared for you and showed that in the best possible way I could. I know some things might have come off hurtful along the way but that was never my intention.
“Although some statements were said about me that are untrue. However, I understand that we cannot control how people react in certain situations. In a nutshell, I am sorry; my intention was never to lead you on or to disrespect you in any way “
