President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his commitment to upholding the high standards promised to Nigerians.
The president made this known while he addressed the newly sworn-in ministers during a ceremony held at the Conference Centre of the State House in Abuja.
In a resolute and impassioned speech, President Tinubu made it clear that the Nigerian populace’s expectations for delivery, accountability, and transparency are paramount.
Addressing the newly appointed ministers, he emphasized the importance of integrity and dignified performance in their roles and pledged to hold each one of them to the standards that they collectively vowed to uphold before the nation.
He said, “I know you and I delegate this authority, but the greatest number of Nigerians are highly expectant of delivery, accountability, and transparency. Nigerians expect that you will act with integrity, and dignity, and deliver. I will hold you to that standard we all promised Nigerians.
“It’s all about a great team, and I believe we have them here. It is a high honour to be chosen to serve as a minister in the Federal Executive Council of our beloved republic, and with such a high honour comes tremendous responsibility.
“In this moment of abundant promise and peril in equal measure, all of you who have been sworn in have been called to distinguish yourselves.
“Your assignment begins immediately. As your country honours you today with this call to service, you must each work to make yourself worthy in the eyes of God and all our nation’s people.
“Your highest obligation is to restore public faith in government so that our people can once again believe that the right hands in government can be a positive force for transformation and a vehicle for the collective progress of this country.”
The ceremony marked the swearing-in of 45 ministers into the president’s cabinet. Among the notable appointments were former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, who was named Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and legal luminary Festus Keyamo, who assumed the role of Minister of Aviation.
Distinguished individuals from various sectors of the nation were also sworn in, reflecting the administration’s commitment to inclusivity and expertise.
Wale Edun, a seasoned financial expert, assumed the dual role of Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. Adegboyega Oyetola, renowned for his administrative acumen, took up the mantle of Transportation Minister. Other key appointments included David Umahi (Works), and Betta Edu (Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation).
