Croatian midfielder Luka Modric is set to sign a one-year deal at the club that will keep him till 2023 and the board is excited to have the midfield maestro in their ranks for one more season. Modric has been a phenomenal player at Real Madrid and he has been very pivotal in all their recent successes dating back to 2012 when he signed for the club from Tottenham.

Modric has grown to be a fan favorite and the Croatian captain is having the time of his life in the Spanish capital. At 36, many consider him old but gold, and with his deft touches with the ball, his excellent passing range, and his proper ball distribution, Modric has been the full package in the middle of the park for Los Blancos.

In a recent interview building up to Saturday, Modric was asked about when he will sign his contract extension or if he will. On hearing this, the number 10 laughed and replied stating he was Madrid through and through and there was no way he would not want to be at the club. ”I’ve not extended my contract with Real Madrid yet. But I won’t do like Mbappe(he laughed), but I hope the club won’t do that to me”. It is quite sure that the 2018 Ballon D’Or winner will remain at the club of his dreams and it is certainly a deal that can be considered done.

Kylian Mbappe made a U-turn on joining Real Madrid after PSG offered him £260m for a three-year extension and quite a number of freewill clauses that give the French forward a number of leverages and authority in Paris. Real Madrid were sorely disappointed at the change of plans and it caused a global crash on social media. Modric is looking forward to Saturday, and it could be his chance to win his fifth UEFA Champions League title both with Real Madrid and in his career.
