Award-winning Nigerian singer, Simi recently shared a distressing incident she encountered at a passport office in Lagos.
In an Instagram video, the talented artist detailed how she was nearly denied entry due to her choice of attire.
Simi expressed her disappointment as she explained the ordeal she faced at the passport office. Despite her celebrity status, the officials remained stubbornly opposed to allowing her inside.
According to the singer, she was instructed to leave and change her outfit before being granted access.
Surprisingly, even her notable reputation and accomplishments did not sway the officials. Simi was left astonished by their refusal to compromise, irrespective of her prominence in the entertainment industry.
Not only was she asked to alter her clothing, but she was also compelled to remove her nosering and earrings.
Recalling the incident, Simi recounted, “I went to the passport office to get my passport done, and upon reaching the gate, they said I should go back because I am indecently dressed.“
Puzzled, she examined herself from head to toe and inquired, “Can you see anything indecent on my body?” The official admitted he couldn’t find any objectionable aspect but insisted that she return and wear something more conservative.
