Wike shared the shocking details, during a thanksgiving service held at St. Peters Anglican Church in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, recounting a poisoning incident in 2018 and an airplane engine explosion in 2022.

Speaking during Thanksgiving, Wike disclosed the harrowing experience he encountered when he was unknowingly poisoned at the PDP party secretariat.

It was only after experiencing severe discomfort that he was flown out of the country for immediate medical treatment.

“I never knew that I had been poisoned in our party secretariat. My intestinal were all black. The doctors did all they could do,” Wike said.

“God was in charge; everybody who knew how we came to power in 2015, knew it was turbulent. But God saw us through. When you are in office, many people think things are going well with you. Nobody wants to find out the problems you are facing as a human.

Furthermore, the former governor recounted an alarming incident that occurred in 2018. He shared how, during a trip to attend a Thanksgiving event organized by his former chief of staff, his health took a severe downturn.

“From that Sunday, I never came down from my room. It was bad,” Wike confessed, explaining the physical toll of the undisclosed ailment.

Despite his weakened state, he managed to attend the state banquet on January 1, 2019, where he delegated his deputy governor to speak on his behalf.

In an even more terrifying incident, Wike revealed the details of a near-tragic event that took place in 2022.

After participating in the presidential primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), an engine of the aircraft he boarded while en route to Abuja exploded only minutes after takeoff.

“Fifteen minutes of take off at the airforce base, we heard an explosion. They locked the cockpit. One engine is gone and the pilot said it was safer to turn back to Port Harcourt,” Wike said.

“Before we landed, there were many ambulances and fire service trucks lined up. We landed safely by the Grace of God. I didn’t tell anybody.”

Wike said he kept the incidents secret to avoid frightening his supporters.

Wike also shed light on his rationale for supporting Godswill Akpabio’s candidacy for the 10th Senate presidency.

He recounted the crucial support he received from Akpabio during his own gubernatorial campaign in 2014 when he was provided with N200 million.

Demonstrating his gratitude, Wike stated, “That was why I said one good turn deserves another. I supported him this time, and I thank God he won.”

These revelations have left many in shock and admiration for the resilience exhibited by Nyesom Wike throughout his tenure as governor of Rivers State.
