According to reports from The Athletic, Erling Haaland to Manchester City is a done deal after the player’s group have agreed to terms with the English giants. Haaland himself has agreed personal terms with City and it was a matter of time before Dortmund knew they would have to let him go. The Norwegian has been on of the biggest young talents in football over the past two to three seasons.
Manchester City were willing to splash up to £120m on the 21-year-old earlier this season after the Harry Kane deal fell through last summer. It is not known yet how much City have agreed with Dortmund over Haaland but it is believed to be in the region of £100m excluding add-ons. Haaland has been on the radar of various elite clubs in recent months; Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea and PSG were rumoured to be in the running back in March.
Manchester City have failed to replace club legend Sergio ”Kun” Aguero since his departure to Barcelona in 2021. Aguero has now called time on his football career due to health complications and has stopped active football. Many fans at the club were hoping that the City board will make a final push to sign Harry Kane, who turns 29 in July.
However, Pep Guardiola is keen on Haaland as he is a lot younger than Kane and that affords the club to give a ling term deal. City have agreed a deal with the Norway international on a six-year deal that sees him stay at the Etihad till June of 2028. Manchester City are set to lose the services of Fernandinho at the end of the current season. The 37-year-old has been a mainstay at the club upon signing in 2013 and has since become a legendary figure. He intends to return to Brazil at the end of the season and is open to one more active season in his native land.
Other departures are Jayden Braaf, Gabriel Jesus and Zack Steffen are considering other options elsewhere. Guardiola has debunked these rumours and insists everyone is happy at the club amid transfer rumors.
