Erling Haaland celebrates a goal

Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland is open to a switch to the Premier League and so are Dortmund- if the price is right. The Norwegian signed for the Yellow and Black in 2020 January from RB Salzburg for twenty million Euros. He won the UEFA Champions League top scorer in 2020 and has scored more than 60 goals for Dortmund in his two and a half years there.

Haaland has been a cynosure for the media and he has been linked to a move to various clubs in the last couple of months. The 21-year-old won the Golden Boy award in 2020 for his ultra elite performances at the big stages. He beat the likes of Ansu Fati, Jadon Sancho and Ferran Torres to clinch the award.

Barcelona were very interested in Haaland but due to the club’s financial strain, they pulled out of the race. Real Madrid remain interested in Haaland and could even make an offer early this summer. But the club that seems to be on the youngster’s mind is Manchester City. The club holds a special place in his heart and he is open to working under a world-class manager like Pep Guardiola.

Dortmund have set an asking price of $170m for Haaland’s transfer. The superstar striker could earn up to $650k weekly at City, a deal that could see him become the highest earner at the club and also in England. Manchester City were very interested in Harry Kane last season but the striker’s move was blocked by Spurs, who rejected a $160m for their academy graduate. Manchester City are optimistic about landing Haaland this summer as they are looking to end their woes at the center-forward position.

Manchester City failed to sign a replacement for Sergio Aguero who left the club at the end of the 2020/2021 season and have since played a “false 9” pattern. Real Madrid are still in the race but it is Manchester City who are in the driving seat to sign the Norwegian goal machine.
