Recalled on the eve of the Lagos guber election a viral video showed MC Oluomo allegedly telling Igbo people who would not vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to stay at home.

Although MC Oluomo recanted his statement, saying it was a playful remark addressed to his friend, “Iya Chukwudi,” and not directed at Igbo people residing in Lagos, his statement elicited criticism on and off social media. Many Nigerians have called for his arrest.

In response to the situation, Hamzat said that justice should be served if there was a violation. He added that the case can be re-examined to determine the facts and take necessary actions.

“In the case of MC Oluomo, he has come out to say that he was referring to one Mama Chinedu or something. And there is a video of the woman saying he was talking to her and MC has been her customer for years,” Hamzat said in a chat with Channels TV on Tuesday.

He further emphasized that if MC Oluomo had indeed broken the law, he must pay for it.

“So I do not know the facts. But people should re-examine the facts and if he had truly broken the law, then of course, he must pay for it.”
