The convoy of the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom was involved in an accident in the Utokon community of Ado Local Government Area of the state on Friday.

Ortom and his entourage were heading for the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) governorship campaign rally in Igumale, headquarters of Ado when the unfortunate incident occurred.

It was gathered that the driver of a bus filled with PDP supporters lost control and rammed into a Jeep, a security vehicle and another bus in the governor’s convoy.

At least two members of the State House of Assembly representing Guma and Kwande West respectively sustained injuries.

Also, a few other vehicles were also affected in the incident which happened at exactly 10:50 am on Friday.

The motorcade in the convoy consisted of the state’s deputy governor, Engr Benson Abounu, Senator Abba Moro, House of Representatives and House of Assembly members from Benue south district, among other top government and party officials in the state.

Meanwhile, an ambulance attached to the convoy evacuated the injured persons to the hospital while the rest continued with the journey.
