Google Photos Will Now Colorize Old Images

The world’s leading search engine, Google will soon roll out an update in its search features that will enable the transformation of old white and black photos to colored.

This transformation feature uses artificial intelligence that automatically detects the colored version of the image. Presumably, you’d take a picture of the old photo with your phone, and then Google Photos will analyze it and produce a colorized file of it.

In addition, Google says it can use AI to help separate subjects in photos or recognize images of documents and automatically convert them to PDF files. Another new feature will automatically suggest exposure adjustments and improvements to your photos.

For developers, Google has released new APIs that can plug into Google Photos services directly. Google says these tools and APIs will let developers build Google Photos search, upload, and sharing tools directly into their apps.

Photos is available on both Android and iOS, and it lets you back up pictures and video automatically for free. It also provides a number of intelligent categorization and organizational features, plus editing tools and photo book creation. Google did not say when these new features would be available in the Google Photos app.
