Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard is positive about doing business in the summer. The former Liverpool skipper is setting his sights on the new season and bringing in players to bolster his Villa squad. The former England international was able to lure Phillipe Coutinho to Villa Park in January and the club are hoping the Brazilian will join on a permanent deal.

Other players on Gerrard’s wishlist include Ruben Loftus-Cheek of Chelsea, Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma,Ivan Toney at Brentford and Tottenham defender Joe Rodon. Chelsea are not willing to part ways with Loftus-Cheek for any fee less than £30m. Villa are setting an £18m valuation and Chelsea are clear on their stance.

Joe Rodon is eager for game time as Spurs have failed to manage his minutes, having featured sparsely for the club. Rodon is keen on a Spurs exit and could even force a move to leave North London on search of more game time. Ivan Toney situation is more complex as the player is an esteemed jewel at Brentford with a host of PL clubs on his tail. Gerrard intends to get another striker to complement England international Ollie Watkins. More deals with be discussed in the summer window.
