British actress, Gemma Arterton, has become a new mother to a baby boy. The 37-year-old and her husband Rory Keenan, 42, welcomed their first child together over the holiday season.
The Quantum of Solace star made the announcement during an appearance on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2.
Arterton appeared on the show to discuss her new television series, Funny Woman, and when asked about her recent addition to the family, she stated, “I just had a baby. So we are very, very happy. He was born just before Christmas. A little Christmas elf.” The host, Zoe Ball, complimented the actress on her fabulous appearance, to which she responded, “Thank you, power of the paintbrush as I would say!”

The Clash of the Titans actress announced her pregnancy in November 2022 at the Raindance Film Festival Awards as she walked the red carpet, cradling her baby bump. Arterton and Irish actor Keenan got married in a secret ceremony in Ireland in September 2019, two years after they met in the play St. Joan by George Bernard Shaw on London’s West End.
Arterton had shared her concerns about balancing family life with her career in an interview with The Telegraph in 2018.
She stated, “I’m a neurotic person and a worrier anyway, and I think, ‘Oh God, when I have kids am I still going to be able to do all this?’ When we were kids my mom and my grandmother didn’t work, and I think that made them sad. That has influenced me.”
Although Arterton did not share any additional details about her newborn, the news of her new bundle of joy has spread happiness and excitement amongst her fans.
