Gabriel Jesus to Miss Start of Season After Knee Surgery, Confirms Arsenal Manager
Gabriel Jesus Ruled Out Due to Knee Surgery

In a recent update, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that the team’s Brazilian striker, Gabriel Jesus, will be sidelined at the beginning of the upcoming season due to knee surgery. This news comes after Jesus was notably absent in Arsenal’s thrilling 5-4 victory against Monaco via penalties, following a 1-1 draw in normal time during the Emirates Cup on Wednesday.

Speaking with ESPN after the match, Arteta disclosed that Gabriel Jesus has been battling with a knee injury that dates back to the previous season. Elaborating on the matter, the manager stated, “Unfortunately, he had a little procedure this morning, he had some discomfort in his knee that has been causing some issues, and they had to go in and resolve it. It is not something major, but he looks to be out for a few weeks, I think.”

The setback is a significant blow for the Arsenal side, as Gabriel Jesus had recently displayed a return to his best form, particularly during an impressive showing against Barcelona. However, the knee discomfort has been persistent in the past few weeks, prompting the club to take action and make a decision in the player’s best interest.

Arteta explained the reasoning behind the surgery, saying, “He has been feeling some discomfort in the last few weeks, and we had to look at it, we had to make a decision, and the best one is to protect the player and get him back as quickly as possible, so we decided to do it.”

Moreover, the manager clarified that the issue is related to a previous injury and subsequent surgery, which led to irritation in the knee. The club’s medical team believed it was essential to address the matter promptly to avoid any further complications.

Unfortunately, Arsenal will have to face the Community Shield without their skilled Brazilian forward when they take on his former team in the upcoming match on Sunday. Gabriel Jesus’ absence from the lineup will undoubtedly be felt, as the team strives to start the season on a strong note.

As the news unfolds, the Arsenal management and fans alike will be anxiously awaiting updates on Gabriel Jesus’ recovery progress, hoping for his swift return to the pitch.
