Former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has shared his insights on the ongoing challenges faced by the Blues in the current season, expressing a lack of complete surprise regarding their struggles. Lampard’s comments come as the club sits in 11th place in the Premier League table after securing just eight points from seven matches.
Mauricio Pochettino, the former Tottenham Hotspur boss, assumed the managerial role at Chelsea in July, following a disappointing 12th-place finish in the previous season. This turbulent season saw multiple managers, including Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, and Lampard himself, taking charge at various points throughout the campaign.
In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports on Monday, Lampard shared his perspective on Chelsea’s current predicament. He acknowledged that he had anticipated some difficulties, having experienced similar challenges during his tenure. “I’m not completely surprised at some of the difficulties. I think having lived it first-hand at the end of the season,” Lampard stated.
Lampard noted that the presence of top managers like Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter during his time at Chelsea shed light on certain issues plaguing the club. “So I think you could see — I felt I could see some of the issues there, which was confidence from results,” he explained.
