Oyo State Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde has renamed the First Technical University in Ibadan to Senator Abiola Ajimobi First Technical University in honour of the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi. The announcement was made by Makinde during his keynote address at the second convocation event of the university held on Friday in the school auditorium.

During his speech, Governor Makinde emphasized the importance of pursuing one’s dreams and the need to be persistent in achieving them. He shared his personal experience of running for office three times and how he remained determined to serve his community, which eventually led to his victory in the gubernatorial election.

Furthermore, the governor encouraged the students of the university to strive for success and not limit themselves to only seeking white-collar jobs. He urged them to be entrepreneurs and employers of labour.

The renaming of the First Technical University in Ibadan is a fitting tribute to the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, who contributed immensely to the development of the state. The university, now named after him, will continue to serve as a reminder of his legacy and the impact he made in the education sector in Oyo State.
