Near-Disaster at the Masters: Falling Trees Nearly Crush Spectators
A frightening incident occurred at the Masters on Friday as two massive pine trees fell near the 17th tee at the renowned Augusta National golf course, almost striking spectators. The incident happened during the second round of the prestigious golf tournament in Georgia while Sergio Garcia was focusing on a putt on a nearby green.
Video footage from the tournament’s broadcast shows the trees collapsing rapidly, causing fans to scramble away to avoid being injured. Thankfully, Masters officials reported that no one was hurt in the incident, which is remarkable given the large number of attendees at the event on Friday.
Play was temporarily halted as workers used chainsaws to remove the debris from the course. Masters officials eventually called off the second round, stating that golfers would need to complete it on Saturday morning before starting their rounds. At the time of the incident, Brooks Koepka was leading the tournament with a 12-under score.
