Everton Star Considering Goodison Exit As Dortmund Open Talks

Borussia Dortmund are set to begin negotiations with Everton for star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, following their recent signing of Karim Adeyemi from RB Salzburg for £32m.  The German giants have parted ways with superstar Erling Haaland, who signed for Manchester City yesterday and this recent transfer activity has prompted Dortmund chiefs to enquire about Calvert-Lewin’s availability next season as they begin life without Haaland.

Calvert-Lewin has been largely injured for the most part of this season and has sparsely featured for the Toffees since Frank Lampard took over in the second half of this season. The England international enjoyed a previous scoring spell last season where he found the back of the net 17 times in the Premier League, prompting Three Lions coach Gareth Southgate to call him up for the Euro Championship where England lost via penalties to Italy in the final.

This season has not been the best for the 25-year-old and he has become a fringe player under Lampard, with Brazil international Richarlison playing as a centre-forward in recent games. It may also be due to his injury woes that Lampard seldom starts Calvert-Lewin but whatever the case may be with two games to end the season, it is safe to say Calvert-Lewin will not be very involved in Everton for the rest of the season

Everton are yet to ascertain whether Calvert-Lewin will be available on the market this summer. It seems that the transfer tag will be the stumbling block in Dortmund’s way as they chase a striker. Everton are willing to part ways with Calvert-Lewin for £45m but Dortmund see such a tag as too expensive and can only splash up to £30m max.

Calvert-Lewin could be tempted to join the Yellow and Black as they will feature in next season’s UEFA Champions League campaign and the England star will be happy to grace the competition. Everton had declined a £20m bid for Calvert-Lewin from West Ham, insisting the player was not for sale and certainly not at that low sum.

Dortmund will also consider cheaper options as they are looking to line up a bid for Chelsea’s Armando Broja who will return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, following a loan spell at Southampton that has seen the teenager rise to English stardom. Another name on their shopping list is Canadian striker Jonathan David who plays his football in the Ligue 1 with LOSC Lille. However David will be hoping to move to the Premier League over signing for Dortmund but he has not received offers yet from any ”Top Six” club in the Premier League.

Dortmund are also working on new contracts for Gio Reyna and Rapahel Gurriero who the club sees as integral parts of Dortmund’s future structure and will be given extensions as the summer draws near. With Calvert-Lewin being a primary option for the Rhine club, it is likely they will meet up with Everton’s valuation of the England star as the players representatives are yet to speak on the possibility of a transfer.
