Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri is set to return to Chelsea at the end of the current season as the Blues have no plan to let him remain with Lyon. The Italy international has been on the radar of various clubs and has been tipped to leave Chelsea at the start of the transfer market.

With Ben Chilwell making a recovery and  now working his way to full fitness, Palmieri does not want to play second fiddle to the England international as he is seeking  regular minutes ahead of the new season. A good number of clubs in his country Italy, are very interested and are willing to open talks to begin negotiations.

A few clubs in England are admirers of Palmieri and are willing to launch a bid for the 27-year-old. But the biggest club in the race is Juventus who intend to enquire about his availability at the opening of the transfer window. Juventus are set to undergo a squad overhaul and it could mean the end of the Turin way for some players.

Emerson has played 26 times for Olympique Lyon this season and he has registered 1 goal and 2 assists. He is happy with the fact that he is playing regularly and he wants to be guaranteed regular playing time at Chelsea. His contract runs out in 2024 summer and Chelsea are hoping to extend his deal beyond 2024.

Chelsea are now set to receive star midfielder Conor Gallagher back at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, following his loan spell ending in May with Crystal Palace. Callum Hudson-Odoi will assess his future in the summer  but it is likely he will opt to leave his boyhood club before pre-season.

Chelsea are into the FA Cup final where they play Liverpool in what will be the first FA Cup final between both sides since 2012 where Chelsea came out victors courtesy Didier Drogba’s winner.
