Italian club Juventus are very near the end parts of signing Argentina international Angel Di Maria whom the club have been chasing for months as he nears the end of his stay at PSG. Di Maria was hoping PSG would give him an extension in his contract but the winger’s proposal has been turned down by the French club, who are setting their sights on other options.

Portuguese giants Benfica were very interested in Di Maria as far back as January and it was nearly certain he would make a return to Portugal but the Old Lady swooped to make a move to sign the former Manchester United winger.  Di Maria wants at least one more season in Europe’s top 5 leagues and the Juventus offer is one he will readily accept.

The Turin side are considering a short-term deal for the Argentine and it is likely it will be a minimum of one year and a maximum of two years. Juventus are set to part ways with Paulo Dybala, who has spent seven years at the club, winning the Scudetto five times. The addition of Di Maria is one that will go a long way for the club in terms of squad expansion and bringing a unique experience to the game generally.

Di Maria will leave the Parc Des Princes at the end of this season and he is set to agree on signing as a free agent in a few weeks. Juventus are working ahead of time as they are also planning a sensational return for Paul Pogba who is also out of contract at the end of the season at Manchester United.

The club have communicated to Pogba’s representatives that they cannot afford his salary structure but can guarantee him game time on a very regular basis. This comes as PSG are ready to increase Pogba’s salary at United by £50k should he sign for them. The Les Blues midfielder is biding his time in order to arrive at a good decision.

Juventus are confident that Di Maria will be in their ranks this summer and it is not certain yet how many years he will be given at the Allianz Stadium. It will not exceed two seasons as the club are monitoring other young wingers around Europe. Di Maria has been assured regular game time, facilitating the transfer as he does not intend to play second fiddle at Juventus.

Juventus are working to sign Gigi Chiellini’s replacement in the coming weeks and Liverpool’s Joe Gomez has emerged as a possible target for the Old Lady. Nothing has been confirmed yet but it is most likely that talks will begin in earnest by the start of June.
