De Bruyne Hits 100th Assist as Manchester City Cruise to Victory
Kevin De Bruyne

Kevin de Bruyne, the skilled playmaker for Manchester City, achieved a significant milestone in the Premier League by registering his 100th assist in the competition. This came as he provided two assists during his team’s 4-1 victory against Southampton, contributing to their impressive performance.

De Bruyne’s achievement places him in fifth position for the all-time top assist holders in the EPL, just two assists away from overtaking Frank Lampard, who currently occupies the fourth position. His consistent performances have been instrumental in Manchester City’s success, and he continues to be a vital component of Pep Guardiola’s team.

Guardiola’s men demonstrated their attacking prowess yet again by scoring four goals for the second consecutive game. The talented Erling Haaland was the star of the show, scoring two goals including a stunning bicycle kick. Jack Grealish also got on the scoresheet, while substitute Julian Alvarez scored from the penalty spot.

Haaland’s two goals took his tally to 30 goals in just 27 appearances in the league, putting him within touching distance of breaking the record for the most goals scored in a single season, which is currently held by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

The Citizens are in high spirits ahead of their upcoming Champions League tie against Bayern Munich. The first leg will be held at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, and the team is confident of their chances of progressing to the next round.

In contrast, Southampton are still at the bottom of the table with just 23 points, and they face the daunting prospect of relegation.
