The Todd Boehly era is well underway at West London and Chelsea are ready to spend big on the transfer market as they intend to compete amongst the very best next season.

Chelsea Lead The Race To sign Dembele As Terms Set To Be Agreed Today
Ousmane Dembele

The board is very interested in signing France international Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona this summer as they are working to bolster their attacking options in the coming weeks. The club is ready to have negotiations with Dembele’s agent and soon a deal will be agreed on.

It is looking less likely that the 25-year-old will remain in Barcelona colours next season, as he insists the club is not meeting up to his demands. Dembele signed for Barcelona in 2017 for around £105m from Borussia Dortmund. The winger has struggled with injuries in the last couple of years during his time at Camp Nou.

His injury woes have caused him to fall short of the usual best player’s contention, with players of his age grade like Kylian Mbappe, Leroy Sane, and Marcus Rashford all edging him in the last few years.

Dembele has remained fit for the most part of this season and this has resulted in him attracting interest from other clubs of recent.  Chelsea are his biggest admirers and Inter have also been in the conversation but they are not desperate. Newcastle are also interested in Dembele but the Frenchman wants to play in the UEFA Champions League next season and this has resulted in him opting for a new deal at the Camp Nou.

The general feeling is that Dembele will rather renew his current Barcelona deal rather than join Newcastle on a free, basically because of his desire to play Champions League football.

No agreement has been reached, but Dembele’s agent was recently spotted at Heathrow airport in London a few days ago. He is yet to give any statement regarding his players’ future, saying there have been no further discussions between Dembele and Barcelona. The board intends to make a last-ditch effort to keep Dembele but the fee remains the obstacle. With Dembele asking for a pay raise in the region of £320k weekly, it is unlikely he will agree to terms with the Spanish giants.

Chelsea are confident of landing Dembele soon and sources close to the player do not wish to disclose much about his decision. He played 21 matches this season in the La Liga, scoring once and recording 13 assists.
