Reports emerging from beIN SPORTS have stated that Thiago Alcantara will likely feature for the Reds in a few days’ time, counting down to the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday in Paris which will see Real Madrid tackle Liverpool at the Stade De France.
Liverpool conducted a fitness training session that involved some good use of the ball and there was a lot of media presence at the AXA training centre. Building up to the big game, Liverpool had been missing some players through injury, with the likes of Mo Salah being forced off in the FA Cup final against Chelsea. The Egyptian winger is back and it seems he is in full fitness as he came off the bench in Liverpool’s final game of the season.
Fabinho was also missing during Liverpool’s FA Cup final victory and at Anfield on the final day. However, the Brazilian was spotted this afternoon with the squad during training and there are big hopes that he will feature on Saturday. The biggest doubt is Thiago who did not train today and was not seen on the premises.
The Spanish playmaker got injured during the match against Wolves on Sunday and he has become a big blow for Jurgen Klopp’s side who will be targeting a 2nd Champions League trophy in three years and an all-time seven. Thiago Alcantara is known for his creativity and his endless box-to-box presence on the pitch. The Spain international has been instrumental to Liverpool’s recent successes since he came on board.
In a presser this afternoon, Jurgen Klopp admitted that Thiago Alcantara did not train with the group but he was unfazed as he believes the midfielder will be available for Saturday. ”Thiago has a chance to be in the final and we are optimistic,” he explained. Defensive problems are nil as all his defenders are available, with Joe Gomez recovering from a knock he sustained last week against Southampton.
Few youngsters like Callum Morton and Harvey Elliot played today in training for the Reds. Callum Morton is a nineteen-year-old who plays as a defensive midfielder. Morton featured for the earlier part of the season when Liverpool were battling injuries in midfield, with Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, and Fabinho facing spells on the sidelines. Morton is best remembered for his excellent display against Spurs in December 2021 when both teams played a 2-2 draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
