The ‘Concerned Citizens of Bauchi State’ group has called on the Bauchi State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Barr Abdulhamid Bununu, to urgently form a fact-finding committee to investigate the remote and possible causes of the violence that followed the gubernatorial campaign of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
The group made this call in response to the brutal killing of innocent citizens of Duguri, Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State during the campaign rally of the gubernatorial candidate of the APC in Bauchi State.
The group was led by Mal. Danlami Danfulani Sarkin, Dawaki Mai Tuta Dass, who expressed his deep sorrow and heavy heart over the unfortunate incident. Danlami Dan Fulani, who was a stakeholder of the APC in the state, a member of State Campaign Council, and a member of the Technical and Advisory committee of Gubernatorial candidate, Amb. Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar Rtd, stated that he withdrew his membership cards from APC as a party after duly studying the terrain of the campaign and the composition of the team. He explained that he realized that it was not a viable team that would bring developmental projects, peace, and social security to the state.
Danlami Dan Fulani condemned the brutal act of brutality on innocent, law-abiding citizens of Bauchi State and called on the Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General, Bauchi State, to establish a panel to investigate whoever has a hand in the killings to face justice and the consequences of their actions. He stressed that leadership teams and campaigns must have self-discipline, honesty, sincerity, and actions that conform to the wishes of the people by providing an excellent example as a leader with tolerance, open-mindedness, and dialogue as a means of dispute settlement.
He called on the people of Duguri to continue to be law-abiding citizens and maintain peace at all times and wait for justice to prevail. Danlami Dan Fulani extended condolences to the families of those brutally killed and called on the government of Bauchi State to resettle the medical expenses and rehabilitate those injured during the brutal killing.
Finally, Danlami Dan Fulani called on all politicians to call their members to order and allow peace to reign throughout the remaining campaign period, and urged the concerned authorities to investigate thoroughly to bring the perpetrators of this heinous act to justice.
