President Muhammadu Buhari has called on Nigerians living outside the country to give their support to Bola Tinubu, the president-elect.

Tinubu who recently won the 2023 Nigeria presidential election on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress will take over power from Buhari on 29 May 2023.

Buhari said Nigerians in diaspora should support Tinubu’s government so that Nigeria will continue to be the beacon of hope and prosperity in Africa and an example for other African countries to emulate.

The president said this while speaking at a town hall meeting as part of his visit to the State of Qatar on Tuesday.

He also called on them to support Tinubu as he takes over the reins of government on May 29.

Speaking further, the president acknowledged the noble roles that Nigerians in Diaspora all over the world had been playing in the development of Nigeria.

He added that his administration had approved a National Diaspora Policy, and supported the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) all the way to develop programmes for the engagement of Nigerians in the Diaspora for the ‘ambassadors’ to contribute their quota towards the development of their fatherland.
