The President, Mohammadu Buhari, and the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu have commiserated with Orji Kalu over the death of his wife.
TalkGlitz Media reported that Orji Kalu’s wife, Ifeoma Kalu, died at the age of 61.
Kalu disclosed the death of his wife in a statement posted on his verified Facebook page. He described the late Ifeoma as “a woman of virtue who was committed to the service of God and humanity.”
He said a memorial service in honor of his late wife was scheduled to be held in the United States of America.
Sympathizing, Buhari in a statement by his spokesperson, Femi Adesina, on Monday asked Kalu and his family members to trust in God for comfort and care in their “very difficult period of pain and deep reflection.”
“President Buhari believes that the testimonies of the late wife’s fear of God and charity should provide strength for the family, knowing that she lived well, and served the will of the Almighty,” the statement read in part.
“The president prays for the repose of her soul, and fortitude for the family to bear the loss,” it added.
In the same vein Sanwo-Olu in a statement issued on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr. Gboyega Akosile, described the death as shocking and a great loss to the lawmaker.
“On behalf of my family and the people of Lagos State, I commiserate with former Governor of Abia State and Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu on the demise of his beloved wife of 33 years, Mrs. Ifeoma Ada Kalu.
“I also sympathize with all the children of the deceased – Neya Uzor Kalu, Michael Uzor Kalu, Olivia Uzor Kalu, and Nicole Uzor Kalu over the death of their mother.
“No doubt the death of a loved one is usually a painful episode in our lives because it is irreparable but we must always take solace in God for a good life spent by the late Ifeoma Kalu during her lifetime.
“Mrs. Kalu was a woman of virtue who committed herself to the service of God and humanity as well as a partner, friend, wife, and great supporter to her husband, Senator Orji Kalu,” Governor Sanwo-Olu said.
“I pray for the repose of the late Mrs. Ifeoma Kalu’s soul. God will grant her eternal rest and grant Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, his children, and the deceased family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” he prayed.
