Brian Shaw: How Kensington Police Officer Was Killed By Unknown Gunman

Brian Shaw, a young police officer from Kensington got shot by an unknown gunman at the point of traffic check.

A manhunt including a few law implementation divisions proceeded with late into the night and the early morning after a New Kensington cop was shot and killed Friday evening.

The casualty was distinguished as Officer Brian Shaw. He had been with the division not as much as a year, Chief Jim Klein said.

Police did not have an immediate suspect description but said that Shaw made a traffic stop, which led to a foot pursuit. At some point, shots were fired.

A “be on the lookout” alert was issued for a gold-colored Jeep, which was later found unoccupied in New Kensington.

“I’m asking anybody with any information, as minute as they think it might be, please, please give us a call. We need to find the person who did this,” Klein said.

“Their department is grieving from the loss of one of their brothers, and if you have any information, please contact 911,” state police Trooper Stephen Limani said. “It’s very important that we get any bit of information that we can to find the person who committed this homicide.”
