Bode George Urges PDP Members to Stay United Amidst Speculations of Defection
Defection Concerns Surface as PDP Leader Urges Members to Remain United

In an exclusive interview with Arise TV on Wednesday, Bode George, a prominent figure within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), passionately appealed to those considering leaving the party to reconsider their decision. Stressing the importance of unity, George emphasized that the party must remain strong and resilient.

The call for unity comes amidst growing concerns about the stability of the PDP, as reports of a faction known as the G5, composed of dissatisfied party members, meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the state house in Abuja have surfaced. Speculations have arisen that these individuals are contemplating a defection to the rival All Progressives Congress (APC). Notably, Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers state and a prominent member of the G5, has held multiple meetings with President Tinubu, fueling further speculation.

During the interview, Bode George urged aggrieved members of the PDP to remain committed to resolving internal issues within the party rather than seeking refuge in other political factions. Citing ongoing court cases challenging the results of recent elections, George emphasized the need to await the court’s decisions before making any hasty moves.

“We are still in court, and everyone still thinks they can win. Until the court decides who actually won the election, it will be a futile exercise trying to bring all sides together,” George stated. He went on to caution those considering defection, saying, “I want to advise those who are jumping ship now to calm down because you can hear the APC leadership complain about the crack in the leaders of the party in the senate.”

Drawing from his personal experience, George emphasized that resolving internal conflicts was crucial. “When you have a problem in your house, it is better to stay in that house and resolve the problem. There is nothing impossible to do if you have a fear of God,” he added.

Appealing to all sides within the party, Bode George made an impassioned plea to protect the PDP from further divisions. “I want to appeal to all sides. Let us not allow this party to go down. We must never allow this party to crack up,” he declared.

The remarks from Bode George highlight the urgency of preserving unity within the PDP, especially during a time of uncertainty and potential political shifts. As the party awaits court rulings and seeks resolution to internal disputes, its members must remain steadfast in their commitment to the party’s core principles and values.
