Tina Lawson, the renowned mother of music sensation Beyoncé, has taken a significant step in her personal life as she officially files for divorce from her husband, Hollywood actor Richard Lawson.
After eight years of marriage, the couple is parting ways due to what has been cited as “irreconcilable differences.”
According to TMZ, Tina initiated the divorce proceedings on Wednesday and has requested the court to terminate its ability to award spousal support to either party. The decision marks a notable development in the lives of the once-happy couple, who had tied the knot in a splendid all-white yacht ceremony off the picturesque coast of California, United States, eight years ago.
Speculations about their relationship status have been rife on the internet for some time now, particularly after fans of Richard Lawson observed that Tina was conspicuously absent during the press tour of his recent movie, “Black Terror,” which was released the previous year.
Additionally, her act of removing his last name from her Instagram bio and reverting to her maiden name, Tina Knowles, added fuel to the rumor mill.
Tina was earlier married to Matthew Knowles, from 1980 to 2011. They both shared two children, Beyoncé and Solange. The marriage came to an end in 2011 after revelations of Matthew’s extramarital affair and the subsequent revelation that he had fathered a child with his mistress.
