Napoli secured their first Serie A title since 1990 on Thursday night, and former Italy striker Mario Balotelli took to Instagram to congratulate Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian forward who scored the decisive goal in Napoli’s victory.
In his congratulatory message, Balotelli hailed Osimhen’s remarkable achievement, stating that the Nigerian had done something incredible. He further added that while Osimhen may not realize the extent of his achievement right now, he would come to understand it fully in the years to come.
Osimhen, on his part, expressed his amazement at the achievement, particularly for the fans who had supported Napoli throughout the season. The Nigerian striker noted that he had received many messages of support from fans, and he was not sure how to celebrate properly.
However, Balotelli reminded him that he was a champion and that it was okay not to know how to celebrate. With 22 goals, Osimhen is also now the highest-scoring African player in a single Serie A season, adding another feather to his cap.
