The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, appointed Bukola Saraki, and Pius Anyim, both former senate presidents, as well as a former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, as special advisers on his campaign council.

Saraki and Anyim β who both contested the partyβs presidential ticket but lost to Abubakar β were given the roles of βspecial envoyβ and βspecial adviserβ, respectively.
Also, Uche Secondus, a former national chairman of the PDP, was appointed as technical adviser. Olagunsoye Oyinlola, a former governor of Osun, was also appointed as a special adviser.
In a statement on Monday, Paul Ibe, spokesman for the PDP presidential candidate, said the appointments βtake immediate effectβ.
βAtiku Abubakar charged the appointees to use their vast political experiences in ensuring that the PDP presidential campaign records resounding success in the 2023 election,β Ibe said.
The development comes amid a crisis in the PDP over calls for the removal of Iyorchia Ayu, national chairman of the party, who took over after Secondus was removed.
