Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has congratulated Governor Umaru Fintiri on his successful re-election as the governor of Adamawa state. Atiku expressed his congratulations in a statement via his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday, commending Fintiri’s victory as a win for democracy.

In his statement, Atiku noted that Fintiri’s win in the Adamawa governorship election was a clear indication that good can overcome bad. He applauded the people of Adamawa state for their steadfastness in resisting coups and enemies of democracy, adding that their commitment to democracy had resulted in Fintiri’s victory.

Atiku went on to say that Fintiri’s win is a sign of good things to come, expressing his optimism that he would also emerge victorious at the presidential election tribunal. The former vice president thanked the people of Adamawa state for their support, urging Nigerians to remain vigilant and resolute in the face of anti-democratic forces.

“Atiku stated, “Congratulations, Gov Ahmadu Fintiri, on your deserved reelection as governor of Adamawa State. Thank you to the people of Adamawa and men and women of goodwill for staying the course in resisting coupists and enemies of democracy from having their way,”

“The lesson from this exercise and others is the need for Nigerians to be vigilant and never give in to anti-democratic forces whose objective is to snatch, run with and undermine the mandate of the people as freely expressed in their votes.”

Atiku also seized the opportunity to express his optimism for his own victory at the presidential election tribunal, where he is currently challenging the emergence of President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

“By the way, it is not yet uhuru as we still have one more major mandate to reclaim, and together as ONE, we shall accomplish the task for the good of our country and its people,” he said.

It will be recalled that Aisha ‘Binani’ Dahiru of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had earlier been declared the winner of the Adamawa governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Yunusa-Ari. The declaration was met with public outrage and condemnation, and was nullified by the Commission, which suspended Yunusa-Ari from office.

After the conclusion of the rescheduled collation, Fintiri was declared the winner of the Adamawa governorship election on Tuesday, beating his closest rival Binani.
