Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria, has called on Muslims to take advantage of the Ramadan fast to pray for the nation, which he says is currently facing a period of “despondency and confusion”. In a statement released on Thursday, Abubakar urged Muslims to intercede for Nigeria during the holy month of Ramadan.

Abubakar, a former Vice-President of Nigeria, stated that the Ramadan period is an opportunity for Muslims to pursue peace and make sacrifices for the betterment of people. He emphasized the significance of sacrifice and devotion to God during this holy month, especially in light of Nigeria’s current challenges.

“At this time when our dear country is at a crossroads, we need to embrace the essential principles of this holy month to heal our wounds both as individuals and as a nation,” the statement reads.

Abubakar also encouraged Muslims around the world to use this Ramadan to seek spiritual guidance and dedicate themselves to worshiping God. He wished all Muslims a happy Ramadan fast and prayed that God would bless them and count their sacrifices during this holy month as acts of worship.

Abubakar was the first runner-up in the February 25 presidential election in Nigeria, with Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). However, Atiku is challenging the results in court, along with Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), who came in third.
