ASP Drambi Vandi on Trial for Alleged Shooting of Pregnant Woman

The Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Drambi Vandi, who is accused of shooting a pregnant woman on Christmas Day in Lagos, allegedly had two of the 25 rounds of ammunition for his AK-47 rifle missing.

This information was revealed by Adamu Shuaibu, who was on duty as the armourer at Ajiwe Police Station on the day of the incident. Shuaibu stated in court that he noticed the shortage of bullets when he received the rifle from another officer.

The Lagos State government has charged Vandi with one count of murder, which he has denied. During the trial, Shuaibu also explained the procedure for returning a rifle to the armourer and how he transferred the weapons to the State Crime Investigation Division (SCID) after disarming Vandi. The trial has been adjourned until February 9th.
