#ARSMCI: Man City takes Premier League top spot with 3-1 win over Arsenal

Manchester City has taken the lead in the race for the Premier League title after a dominant 3-1 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. The win sees Pep Guardiola’s side take the top spot from Arsenal, with a one-goal advantage.

The match lived up to its billing as a pulsating encounter with both teams giving their all. The defending champions were able to take control and eventually break down Arsenal’s resistance. Jack Grealish opened the scoring for City in the 72nd minute, while Erling Haaland added a second in the 82nd minute.

The game started with Arsenal in the ascendency, but City gradually grew into the game and were rewarded for their efforts in the 24th minute when Kevin De Bruyne scored a brilliant first-time finish over Aaron Ramsdale following a poor Takehiro Tomiyasu backpass.

Arsenal drew level in the 42nd minute through Bukayo Saka’s penalty after Ederson was deemed to have fouled Eddie Nketiah. However, City’s title-winning pedigree eventually told, and they were able to seal the win with two second-half goals.

The defeat extends Arsenal’s winless run to three games, having previously slipped up against Everton and Brentford. The momentum is now with Manchester City, who have seemingly been galvanised by the charges levelled against them by the Premier League.

Arsenal played without Thomas Partey, who was sidelined due to a muscular injury, and were unable to resist the second-half pressure from City. Despite the loss, Arsenal remain in the title race and will look to bounce back in their next game.
