A Daycare in Arkansas, U.S., has reportedly given a six-year-old girl the boot after she wore a βBlack Lives Matterβ t-shirt.
Deval Brockman claims that her six-year-old daughter, Journei Brockman, was kicked out of the daycare because she was spotted donning a t-shirt with the inscription, βAll Lives Canβt Matter Until Black Lives Matter.β
Journei has been attending the daycare, His Kids Preschool, for six months and was told last Friday, June 26, 2020, that she could not return.
Her mother Deval told FOX 16 that her daughterβs school called her last Thursday, June 25, 2020, and an employee told her that she didnβt like or agree with the shirt Jounrnei wore, asking that Deval not send her child to the school because of it.
Deval said she lodged a complaint to state officials who told her that her daughter could wear the shirt unless it contained profanity.
βIf Iβm supporting something, Iβm going to wear it, my child is going to wear it, to help say that our voice needs to be heardβ, Deval stated.
Journei returned to the school last Friday wearing a different shirt, this time with an image of a raised fist printed on the back (which happens to be the Black Lives Matter symbol).

When Deval went to pick up her daughter at the end of the day, she was told her daughter was no longer welcome at the school. An employee had allegedly said that the shirt was encouraging racism.
βI got very upset. Iβm just like, are you serious?β, Deval quipped.
She claimed that the school director said to her, βIβm not going to tell you how to raise your child, but you need to reevaluate how youβre parenting her.β
Commenting further, Deval stated, βItβs not political, itβs everyday life. Itβs all over the news. Right is right, and wrong is wrong.β
The director of the school, Patricia Brown, had this to say about the incident: βWe feel a childcare environment is not a place for a parentβs political views to be addressed or played out, regardless of race.β
