Just two days before the Edo State House of Assembly elections, the Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Jarret Tenebe, was arrested in his hometown of Ikabigbo, Etsako West Local Government Area, allegedly on the orders of the Deputy Governor, Hon. Philip Shaibu. The reasons for his arrest remain undisclosed.

Tenebe is a popular mobilizer for the APC and a strong loyalist of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. In a recent video, he accused the Deputy Governor of sundry issues, which may have contributed to his arrest.

The APC, at a press conference in Benin City on Tuesday, alleged that the state government was planning to rig the upcoming elections using thugs in various disguises. The State Chairman of the party, Col David Imuse (rtd), and the Assistant Publicity Secretary, Ofure Osehobo, both confirmed Tenebe’s arrest. However, the Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, has not responded to enquiries.

It is important to note that any allegations made must be thoroughly investigated and proven before anyone is arrested. It is also important for the police to respond to enquiries and provide the public with updates on ongoing investigations. We urge all parties involved to abide by the rule of law and ensure a peaceful and fair election process.
