Alfred Schreuder is no longer being considered for the position of head coach at Leeds United. Schreuder was present at Elland Road on Sunday as Leeds suffered a 2-0 loss to Manchester United, which has left the club hovering just above the relegation zone.

Leeds has been facing difficulty in finding a successor to Jesse Marsch, as their preferred candidates have been unavailable. Schreuder, who was recently dismissed from Ajax, was considered for the position, but according to Sky Sports News, he is no longer in the running. Leeds is continuing to hold talks with other potential candidates.

Leeds United CEO Angus Kinnear acknowledged the significance of a prompt appointment in his program notes ahead of Sunday’s game. Despite the confidence in the caretaker team, Kinnear recognized the need for a new head coach to be appointed soon.

Schreuder’s previous job at Ajax was a two-year contract, but he was dismissed two weeks ago due to a string of seven league games without a win. Ajax CEO Edwin van der Sar stated that the decision to dismiss Schreuder was necessary, despite a strong start to the season, as the club had lost many unnecessary points. Schreuder’s previous experience includes winning the Belgian League with Club Brugge and being an assistant to Ronald Koeman at Barcelona.
