Liverpool’s star right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold, has bestowed the title of “best opponent ever” upon none other than the legendary Argentine football maestro, Lionel Messi.
Trent made this known in an interview with Goal while responding to a question on who his best-ever contender was.
Responding to the question, the fullback said: “Messi. I don’t know; he is just the best.”
Judging by Messi’s accolades in the game, Alexander-Arnold’s choice should not come as a surprise.
Alexander-Arnold was in the team that was beaten 3-0 at Camp Nou in the UEFA Champions League during Messi’s time at Barcelona.
Liverpool, though, thrashed Messi and Co. 4-0 at Anfield, with Alexander-Arnold’s quick thinking for a Divock Origi goal turning out to be pivotal.
